The California Master Map was recently split to enable the addition of new trail systems without over-loading the file size. Sixty-one new GPS locations for mines and other waypoints have been added to the Skeleton Pass Trail. [A free Google Earth file of this route is available at:
Offroading Home: Southern California Master Map.]Additionally, fourty-three ride and hike trail segments have been added to make an entire riding area completely mapped for rides.
This is a big increase in the volume of added trackpoints and has required a change in the format of how trails are presented. All of the new waypoints for this area, mostly mines, have popups describing them, viewable by clicking on their icons.
The new trail system is controlled by one folder, should you want to turn it off for clarities sake. However, every individual segment can be highlighted by hovering over it with your cursor. That individual segment will turn a lighter color and if you click it a pop-up description will tell you its length as well as minimum and maximum altitudes.
The new trail additions will enable you to plan your next trip to get the most out of your valuable riding time.
